Scheduled Hours 37.5 Position Summary The Office of Donor Relations fosters positive and enduring relationships with donors built on trust and accountability through activities that acknowledge, recognize, and report on gifts, and engage donors in the life of the university. Reporting to the Director of Donor Communications and Recognition, this position is responsible for leading a communications team in researching, writing, producing, and delivering highly personalized communications that convey donor impact. The incumbent will also contribute to efforts to design and implement stewardship communications strategies for donors at many levels. The position requires an experienced professional with excellent writing, editing, graphic design, and project management skills; sound judgement; a keen attention to detail; and the ability to build effective working relationships with diverse constituencies. Job Description Primary Duties and Responsibilities Oversee and implement efforts to plan, write, edit, and produce impact and recognition communications for donors in print and digital formats. Write custom communications to high-level donors. Contribute to the development of donor stewardship plans and deliverables. Build, evaluate, and refine donor communications based on best practices in the field. Participate in ongoing efforts to expand and centralize donor communications efforts. Collaborate with schools and units to streamline and support shared impact reporting. Supervise staff members responsible for producing strategic communications for donors and internal audiences. Collaborate to regularly refresh donor communications content across Donor Relations workstreams. Perform other duties as assigned. Preferred Qualifications Experience developing, writing, and editing fundraising materials, preferably in higher education or the nonprofit sector. Experience with design and layout of short publications, reports, or one-pagers. Demonstrated creativity in writing and communications strategy. Knowledge of donor communications and stewardship. Proven track record of working and leading in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization. Experience building teams and/or supervising staff. Demonstrated project management experience and the ability to work effectively under pressure, juggle competing priorities, manage projects, organize time, and identify resources for projects. Exceptional writing and editing skills with demonstrated ability to write clear communications that are engaging, reflect the audience, and help others understand and retain the message. Demonstrated use of graphic design principles, typography, layout, and color theory to create clean, professional communication pieces. Wide-ranging knowledge of academic units, current affairs in higher education, and research, as well as a genuine interest in the ongoing affairs at the university and intellectual curiosity. Outstanding organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy. Ability to analyze, condense, and synthesize complex material and provide accurate analysis and summaries. Ability to work across units and build effective collaborative relationships, and to effectively operate in a highly complex environment. Proficient with Microsoft Word and Adobe Creative Suite, including InDesign. Familiar with email marketing tools, web design platforms, and video editing software. Required Qualifications Bachelorâs degree. Minimum of three to five years of related experience. Grade G13 Salary Range $64,700.00 - $110,500.00 / Annually The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University. Individual rates within the range will be determined by factors including one's qualifications and performance, equity with others in the department, market rates for positions within the same grade and department budget.
