About the Club
Founded in 1897, Agawam Hunt is one of the original 25 USGA Member Clubs. A family-friendly, year-round club located minutes from downtown Providence, in Rumford, Agawam Hunt boasts some of the finest recreational facilities in New England, that includes a premier Food & Beverage program, that compliments our 18-hole Donald Ross-designed golf course, indoor and outdoor tennis, pickleball, platform, squash, swimming, and a close community of families and individuals.
About the Positions
Agawam Hunt is seeking qualified members to join our proven team of driven professionals for the Fall/Winter 2024 season. Positions include Casual and Fine Dining Servers for Lunch, Dinner, and Events; Bussers; Bartenders; Snack Bar Attendants and Housemen/women. The team has a strong commitment to sourcing the best people, ingredients, and serving the community in a sustainable and warm environment.
Our busy season is between May and October but qualified candidates have the ability to secure year-round employment as they prove their ability and commitment. Lunch is served outdoors and poolside May through October. The Club offers full food and beverage service in a fast-paced summer setting for our member families and their guests. Teamwork and taking initiative are crucial to team success. Spending time on your feet indoors and outdoors for long periods of time is a must. The environment at the club requires energy and self-motivation. A knowledge base to serve well-traveled guests is important, but a friendly attitude and willingness to learn are paramount. Individuals are empowered to bring their own talents and personality to their position.
Servers
We are seeking individuals for the position of Server who possess prior restaurant experience or a strong willingness to learn. The ideal candidates should demonstrate exceptional communication skills to effectively engage with our members. If you exude a positive and friendly demeanor, we are confident in our ability to equip you with the necessary practical skills to excel in this role.
A natural flair for politeness and the ability to intuitively understand guests' requirements, coupled with the confidence to recommend food and wine pairings and guide the flow of a meal, are highly valued attributes in potential Servers. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required. Must have availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Bussers
The role of a Busser is paramount to ensuring the seamless functioning of our restaurant throughout the day. Bussers provide invaluable support to the service team, acting as the backbone of our establishment. Responsibilities include delivering bread and water service to each guest, efficiently clearing and resetting tables, polishing glassware and silverware, and maintaining the overall cleanliness of the restaurant and workspace.
This position presents an excellent opportunity for individuals with limited restaurant experience to gain valuable insights and become an integral part of our dynamic team. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required. Must have availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Bartenders
We are currently seeking experienced Bartenders with a minimum of two years of relevant bartending experience, ideally within a similar club or restaurant setting. A strong foundation of food and beverage knowledge is essential for this role, as it forms the bedrock of our club's culture.
As a Bartender, you will play a central role in creating a comprehensive dining experience for our patrons. Excellent conversational skills are key to forging meaningful connections with our members and guests while ensuring top-notch service throughout their visit. Alcohol safety certification is a mandatory requirement if you do not possess one we will assist in getting you certified. Previous experience in a similar role is preferred, but not required. Must have availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Setup Staff
As Set-up Staff at Agawam Hunt, you will play a key role in ensuring that the club's facilities are maintained to the highest standards. You will be responsible for the upkeep of the club's public areas, guest accommodations, and other spaces to provide an exceptional experience for our members and guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Facility Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of common areas, including lobbies, hallways, restrooms, and dining areas. Ensure that all areas are clean, organized, and presentable.
- Set-Up and Tear-Down: Assist with setting up and breaking down for events, including arranging furniture, setting up equipment, and ensuring all areas are ready for use.
- Housekeeping Support: Provide support to the clubhouse & grounds team by assisting with maintenance, delivering supplies, and addressing any immediate cleaning needs.
- Guest Assistance: Respond to guest requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner. Provide excellent customer service and address any issues that arise during their visit.
- Safety and Compliance: Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with safety regulations and club policies. Report any safety hazards or maintenance issues to the Facilities Manager.
