Description Please note:This is an extra-help position, therefore it is utilized on an as-needed basis and does not qualify for benefits.
This position will serve the Los Molinos Veteran's Hall primarily by coordinating event reservations for the hall. Position Description: Under direct or general supervision, provides a variety of general clerical support activities to an assigned County department, which may include word processing, data entry and organization, receipt of payments, telephone and counter reception, record keeping, report preparation, and filing. Provides information and assistance to the general public.
Salary (C-E Steps) Office Assistant I: $16.72 - $18.44 Hourly
Examples of Duties - Screens calls, visitors, and mail responds to complaints and requests for information assists in explaining and applying regulations, policies, procedures, systems, rules, and precedents in response to inquiries and complaints from public assists in scheduling and set-up of appointments obtains information from the public provides referrals to the general public directs callers to appropriate County staff as necessary.
- May perform cashiering duties balances cash register/drawer with checks, cash, and receipts, and prepares bags for courier to pick up receives money and issues receipts collects service fees.
- Opens, closes, and secures facilities pursuant to department policy.

Education, Experience & Licenses Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
- Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade.
Office Assistant I: No experience required.
License and Special Requirements: - Requires a valid California driver's license.
- Current, less than 1 year old, typing certificate.
Recruitment Information The department is recruiting for one (1) vacancy. In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Office Assistant I - Extra Help, as well as subsequent vacancies which occur during the life of the eligibility list.
New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
