We are a new Endocrinology practice located in Leesburg, VA looking for a dedicated and reliable part time medical receptionist/medical assistant.This position will be initially remote starting in January 2025 to aid in scheduling patients for our upcoming virtual and in person clinic opening. The role will be dynamic with transition to in office patient care in the spring of 2025.

Successful candidates will cross train to support both clinical and front office responsibilities. This is an excellent position for gap year/post baccalaureate and college students planning a career in healthcare. The candidates have the potential to get hands on clinical and administrative experience to help further their future career.

 

Responsibilities

  • Answering phones and scheduling initial and follow up visits using an EMR
  • Ensuring patient forms are completed and entered into EMR prior to patients’ appointment
  • Checking patients in virtually and in clinic
  • Responding to patient portal messages regarding administrative/ scheduling questions
  • Sending prescription refill requests
  • Processing prior authorizations for both medications and medical equipment
  • Some knowledge of medicine, prescriptions, dosages, etc is helpful but not required.
  • Submitting medication infusion forms
  • Answering clinical phone line and takes accurate clinical messages within the limits of knowledge and practice policy. May answer patient’s inquiries with respect to medical questions within the limits of knowledge and as directed by physician
  • Notify physician of any patient related questions
  • Calling patients with routine results or answer to questions as instructed by physician
  • Verify insurance eligibility and benefits.
  • Check in and check out patients
  • Collect copayments and patient balances on the day of the appointment
  • Inform patients of deductibles and coinsurances
  • Obtain medical records as needed
  • Verify if insurance requires referrals
  • After in office opening, take vitals, point of care hba1cs, and room patients while entering clinical information in patient’s EMR
  • Fills all shortages of medical supplies with reorders, fills out all necessary paperwork for reordering.

  • High Level of Confidentiality in line with HIPPA compliance– Maintain patient and employer confidentiality in a remote and in office setting
  • Detail Oriented – High attention to the multiple and minor details of a project is very important.
  • Front office or administrative experience preferred but not required
