Responsibilities: Secure product for KSW processing and produce a high-quality, cost-competitive product. Manage and optimize crops in Texas and other regions supplying KSW, contributing to crop development efforts in the US and abroad. Develop and strengthen relationships with Kalsec growers. Collaborate cross-functionally on crop production matters and manage communication for crops in the region. Lead the search and implementation of technologies that deliver value to Kalsec and Kalsec growers, including crop monitoring technologies. Contract acres with growers for crops such as Paprika, Carrots, and Rosemary. Schedule planting times, monitor fields, and communicate with growers about crop conditions. Manage pest control and keep growers informed about industry developments. Oversee commercial seed production and maintain knowledge of market and crop conditions. Budget for field production and farm operations. Ensure safety on the farm and purchase necessary inputs for farming operations. Manage farm personnel and implement conservation practices. Maintain contact with the Chile industry to understand market conditions and establish relationships with buyers and growers. Work with the Breeding Group and Plant Breeder on planting, growing, observing, and harvesting crops. Education/Experience: Required: Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree or five or more years of farming and agricultural experience. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Prior supervisory/management experience. Excellent people skills with the ability to motivate a diverse workforce. Desired: Experience in an agricultural processing operation. Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, or Supply Chain Management/Logistics. Multilingual (Spanish) is a plus. LEAN experience. Equipment Operation: General office equipment. Extensive knowledge to maintain and operate various farm equipment (Harvesters, Tractors, Sprayers, etc.). Physical Requirements: Working in a dusty environment, ascending and descending stairs, and walking through the plant. Walking fields to check crop conditions and performing maintenance on farm equipment. Travel: Extensive travel to manage farms in various regions.
