Description Hennepin County's Human Services and Public Health (HSPH) department is seeking an APEX HR Transactions Specialist. In this position, you will work with managers and employees from HSPH to obtain information needed to process human resources/payroll transactions in a timely and accurate manner, with a strong focus on customer service.
Location and hours: This position is hybrid and will be performed both on-site at one of the HSPH buildings and remote as job duties require. Work hours will be Monday through Friday, with typical hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. While this position is designated as hybrid, based on current requirements hires must reside in or relocate to Minnesota or Wisconsin.

In this position, you will: - Act as staffing and payroll information specialist to the department and supervisors/managers, in facilitating and understanding of hiring and payroll procedures, policy/labor relations provisions, and human resources rules.
- Answer timesheet, paycheck, performance review due dates and pay-related questions, audit time codes, corrections and approvals of timesheets.
- Prepare, review, and submit all employee and position transactions into APEX (PeopleSoft software) to create employee profiles and implement employee status changes.
- Track and verify that all necessary documents and procedures are completed. Take action to resolve transaction questions by contacting supervisors or human resources staff.
- Participate and provide coverage for the completion of the I-9 process that validates candidates' eligibility for employment.
- Prepare regular payroll reports and special reports for administrative use as requested.
- Other staffing management and payroll duties and coverage as assigned.
Need to have: Two or more years of experience in payroll processing or human resources.
Nice to have: - Experience:
- Working with an online human resources/payroll/applicant tracking system; APEX (PeopleSoft) experience is preferred.
- Submitting payroll transactions (i.e. entry of pay rate changes, new hires, transfers, and terminations).
- Processing payroll and/or human resources transactions.
- Using Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word and Excel) to create spreadsheets and/or payroll/human resource-related reports and track data.
- Providing guidance to employees and managers regarding payroll transactions.
- Using APEX (PeopleSoft) system for finance purposes.
- Ability to:
- Process and integrate complex information from multiple sources including written and verbal instructions.
- Work under multiple and strict deadlines with a customer service orientation.
- Ensure confidentiality of employee data.
- Work with a diverse group of people and support diversity, equity, and inclusion principles.
